eSmart Systems builds upon 2020 success by adding two industry sales leaders

eSmart Systems, the energy industry’s leader in AI-based grid inspection and grid maintenance planning software, is pleased to announce that Knut Haukenes and Sarah Densmore have joined the company as Head of Sales Europe and Director of Sales North America respectively, to continue to advance eSmart’s ambitious growth strategy.

Ambitious growth plans for Europe

Knut Haukenes will lead the European sales efforts and joins the sales team from Bidgely, an energy AI SaaS provider, where he led the Go-To-Market sales strategy and execution for Bidgely throughout Europe. With several years of experience in the Power and Utility sector, including six years for EY in London, Knut has a strong passion for energy solutions and in particular the role of innovation in energy leading the world toward a carbon-neutral future.

“I have dedicated 10 years to energy networks because these large natural monopolies quietly build the foundation of the ongoing energy transition. eSmart Systems sits at the core of this, using world-leading Artificial Intelligence to help TSOs and DSOs improve the inspection and maintenance of their grids through our Grid Vision solution. We already have a strong foothold in the Nordics, UK&I, the DACH region, and Southern Europe. We are working with some of the largest network operators, and have exciting opportunities ahead”, added Knut.

Industry expert to contribute to market share growth in North America

Sarah Densmore joins eSmart as an accomplished Smart Grid sales executive, with over 10 years of experience applying information technology to utility business transformations. Sarah’s passions and experiences have focused on applying innovative smart grid technology to solve complex business challenges for electric utilities.

Before joining eSmart Systems, Sarah was an Account Director and Principal for Black & Veatch Management Consulting. Prior to Black & Veatch, she held roles at AutoGrid Systems and ABB Enterprise Software. Having worked on consulting and software implementation projects with many of North America’s largest utilities, she gained a comprehensive understanding of the utility generation, transmission, and distribution businesses from people, processes, data, and technology perspectives.

“I feel passionate about innovation in the energy sector, and I am excited to join a world-class team that is focused on delivering value to its utility customers with innovative technology and deep domain expertise. eSmart has a great team, great technology, and a great customer-centric culture.”

Exciting times ahead

After years of continued growth, in 2019 eSmart announced a successful capital raise of US $34.4 million. The latest additions are part of a growth strategy both in the European and North American markets, focusing on delivering leading solutions in AI-based grid inspection software.

“I am excited to add Knut and Sarah to our growing sales team. These appointments will put further focus on our ambitious strategy, where we collectively are committed to delivering the world’s best solutions for T&D inspections. Both leaders bring the necessary expertise and experience to help us succeed”, said Knut Johansen, CEO at eSmart Systems.
