Sales Manager Energy Markets 

I started in eSmart Systems in March 2017. I work as a Sales Manager, within the business areas Energy Markets. I work with sales, business development and I am also account manager for some of our key customers. I was approached by a recruiter working for eSmart in 2016. I was very comfortable at my previous employer, but I quickly realized what an amazing opportunity starting at eSmart could be.

I will now give you my three most important reasons for why I was convinced to start working at eSmart Systems.

Firstly, Norway was a front runner in liberalizing the energy market. Liberalizing the energy market required a power exchange. A power exchange that needed to be developed. This development turned into a big export industry out of Norway. The technology was sold, but most importantly, part of the team behind this great achievement in Norwegian IT history is now working at eSmart Systems. Therefore, I knew the management and senior developers had the necessary capability and the necessary experience.

Secondly, eSmart have very impressive technology. As a Master of Science, Engineering Cybernetics, I am naturally focusing on this. For instance, I had seen the publicity around the drone. It is an amazingly cool mix of IoT, communication, data engineering, cloud computing and drone technology. And the business case speaks for itself; safer, faster and cheaper than traditional inspections. It was also intriguing to learn eSmart use a single cloud-based platform as basis for all its products. eSmart have very strong machine learning focus and it has a very competent data scientists team. This was also important in convincing me that the company had the necessary technology to conquer the world again.

Thirdly, the spirit and the drive of the people at eSmart Systems was very reassuring. If you don’t have passion of your work, you will not succeed. Already during the first rounds of interviews I noticed this the focus and the drive. In combination with the first two reasons I was convinced to join the team, and I have not been disappointed. Now, one year later, I still find the passion and will to succeed among my peers at eSmart.

Working in this company is not for the comfort seeking, it is hard work. And if you like, you will be continuously challenged, in a good way. The reward is to take part in building a new company and learning a lot on the way. The reward is to meet great people that will help you out if needed. The reward is to work with technology that will change the world and support the transition towards a more sustainable society. The reward is having fun!
